How Locatd handles your data. Last updated 23 July 2026.

Who we are

Locatd is a map-based job board for retail and hospitality work in the UK. For the data described below, Locatd is the data controller. Questions or requests about your data can be sent to [email protected] at any time.

Visiting the map

Browsing jobs on the map does not require an account, and we do not collect your name or email just for visiting. With your consent (see below) we record anonymous, first-party analytics: searches, areas viewed, jobs viewed, apply click-throughs and shares. That is how we show employers where demand for jobs is highest.

Location data

When you search an area or use “near me”, we use the location only to find nearby jobs. For analytics we record the nearest town centre, never your exact position, and any stored coordinates are rounded to roughly 1 km. Your precise location is used in your browser to fetch results and is not stored.

Job alerts

If you sign up for email job alerts, we store your email address and the search you asked to be alerted about: the area, radius and any filters. That is what lets us email you matching jobs. Alerts use double opt-in: we only start sending after you confirm the link we email you. Every alert email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can manage or delete your alerts at any time.

Employer accounts

Employers who claim a business or post jobs hold an account. For this we store the name and email address you provide, a securely hashed password (never the password itself), and the business details you add to your profile and job posts. Enquiries and claim requests you send us (company, name, email, phone and message) are kept so we can respond and manage your account.

Payments

Paid features (subscriptions and Featured-job boosts) are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe and are never stored on Locatd’s systems. We keep only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription/plan status so we can apply what you’ve paid for.

Consent

Analytics only run after you accept them in the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics are sent. Your choice is remembered in your browser and you can clear it at any time by clearing your site data. Job alerts and accounts are set up only when you actively choose to, and processing there is to provide the service you asked for.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a small set of trusted service providers who process data only on our behalf: hosting and database infrastructure (Render and Supabase), transactional email delivery (Resend), and payments (Stripe). Aggregate, anonymised demand trends may be shown to employers, but these contain no information that identifies you.

How long we keep data

Anonymous interaction events are retained for up to 180 days; aggregate trends (which contain no individual events) are kept to show change over time. Job alerts are kept until you unsubscribe or delete them. Account and billing records are kept for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to restrict or object to how we use it. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data.

Cookies

The public map uses only a local anonymous identifier (in your browser’s local storage) to group your own interactions; it isn’t shared. Signed-in employers and staff use a secure, http-only session cookie so we can keep you logged in. We don’t use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
